This Privacy Policy describes how the Stacks Chrome extension handles information. Stacks is designed to organize browser tabs/windows and save your link stacks locally.

- Stacks does not send your saved links or browsing data to our servers.
- Stacks stores extension data locally in your browser profile using
chrome.storage.local. - Data remains on your device unless you choose to export or share it yourself.
Information Stacks Processes
To provide core functionality, Stacks may process:
- Open tab URLs and titles
- Window and tab metadata (such as open/seen timestamps)
- User-created folders/categories and saved link stacks
- Favicon/thumbnail references used for display
- A profile identifier from Chrome (when available) to separate local data per signed-in browser profile
How Information Is Used
- Save and organize tabs/windows into stacks
- Let you reopen saved links/windows later
- Support folder categorization and search
- Keep your local extension data separated per browser profile
Where Data Is Stored
Stacks stores data locally in your Chrome profile via chrome.storage.local.
Stacks does not operate a backend service for user data storage.
Data Sharing and Selling
Stacks does not sell, rent, or share your personal browsing data with third parties for advertising or marketing.
Data Retention and Deletion
- Your saved data stays available until you delete it in the extension or uninstall the extension.
- Uninstalling the extension removes extension-managed local data from Chrome.
Permissions
Stacks requests permissions only to support the extension's features:

Security
We follow a local-first design and limit data handling to what is necessary for extension functionality. No system can be guaranteed 100% secure, but Stacks minimizes data exposure by not transmitting saved user data to remote servers.
Children's Privacy
Stacks is not directed to children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect product or legal changes. Material updates will be reflected by updating the effective date above.
